Course Overview
This 3-day  certification course teaches you the fundamentals of data science and how to apply them to real-world problems. You will learn how to use scientific methods, processes, and algorithms to extract insights from structured and unstructured data. You will also learn how to use programming languages such as R or Python, data management tools, probability and statistics, machine learning, artificial intelligence, visualisation, and data governance and ethics. By the end of this course, you will be able to demonstrate your knowledge and understanding of data science concepts and terms, and use data science tools to solve business challenges and create value. This course is suitable for anyone who wants to start or advance their career in data science.

The purpose of this qualification level is to confirm that a candidate is well versed in the introductory Data Science concepts in the cognitive levels of knowledge and understanding and be able to understand basic terms, concepts and terminology, along with knowing the basic tools that can be used in real life cases.

Target Audience
PeopleCert Data Science Foundation is a certification that aims to provide candidates with a solid foundation of data science concepts and tools, as well as their applications and uses in real business cases. The target audience for this certification are:

  • Professionals of any field who want to learn the basics of data science and how it can help them solve problems, optimize operations, and discover new opportunities in their domain.
  • Candidates seeking personal certification who want to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of data science fundamentals and their ability to apply them in practical scenarios.
  • Candidates with no technical background or experience who want to gain awareness of the basic principles and terminology of data science and the common tools that are used in data mining and analysis.

Course Prerequisites

There are no prerequisites for taking the Data Science Foundation course. However, it is recommended that you have some basic knowledge of mathematics, statistics, and programming. You can also take the PeopleCert Data Science Analyst course after completing the Foundation course, which covers more advanced topics in data science.

Course Objectives
PeopleCert Data Science Foundation is a certification course that aims to provide candidates with a comprehensive introduction to the field of data science and its applications. The course covers the following topics:

  • The basics of data science: What is data science, why is it important, and what are the main steps and methods involved in data analysis and problem-solving.
  • Key concepts of programming: How to use R or Python, two popular programming languages for data science, to perform basic tasks such as data manipulation, exploration, and visualization.
  • Key concepts of data management: How to access, store, and process different types of data, such as structured, unstructured, and streaming data, using various tools and platforms.
  • Probability and statistics: How to apply statistical concepts and techniques, such as descriptive statistics, probability distributions, hypothesis testing, and confidence intervals, to analyze and interpret data.
  • The basics of machine learning: What is machine learning, how does it work, and what are the main types and algorithms of machine learning, such as supervised, unsupervised, and reinforcement learning.
  • The basics of artificial intelligence (AI): What is artificial intelligence, how does it relate to data science and machine learning, and what are the main applications and challenges of artificial intelligence, such as natural language processing, computer vision, and ethics.
  • Key concepts of visualization: How to use various tools and libraries to create effective and interactive visualizations of data, such as charts, graphs, maps, and dashboards.
  • Data governance, ethics, data privacy and protection: How to ensure the quality, security, and ethical use of data, such as by following data governance frameworks, standards, and regulations, and by addressing data privacy and protection issues.

By completing this course, candidates will be able to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of data science fundamentals and their ability to apply them to real-world scenarios.
